Graphical Assessment for Span Ranges of PSC Girder Bridges

J. Bridge Eng. 17, 343  (2012)

Issue Date: April 2011

Although the prestressed concrete (PSC) girder bridge is known to be more economical than other types of bridges in short and medium spans, a longer span has also been achieved by applying several strategies. This paper presents a systematic procedure that can be used to assess the effects of these strategies on the span. Read more...

Eurocodes and their Implications for Bridge Design: Background, Implementation, and Comparison to North American Practice

The Journal of Bridge Engineering is pleased to announce an open call for papers for an upcoming special edition focusing on the provisions of the Eurocodes for the design of bridge structures. The objective of the special edition is therefore to bring together a collection of papers reflecting the development and application of the Eurocodes. Papers are sought addressing the spectrum of code activities including research, code development, code implementation and case studies. When appropriate, authors are encouraged to compare design philosophies/solutions provided by the Eurocodes to their North American equivalents. Read more...
