The analysis of approx 5,000 soil horizons indicated that Green and Ampt parameters (effective porosity, wetting front capillary pressure, and hydraulic conductivity) could not be developed based on phases of soil order or suborder. However, sets of average parameters are developed based on soil horizon or soil texture class, or both. A procedure for determining the Green and Ampt parameters based on soil properties utilizing the full spectrum of soil survey information is outlined.
