Sediment Transport in Urban Stream Restoration Design

Abstract
This paper discusses approaches to stable channel design that utilize sediment transport as a basis for quantifying channel stability. Fundamental methodologies include sediment routing, sediment continuity, threshold and hydraulic geometry (regime) equations. The sensitivity of stable channel dimensions to sediment-related boundary conditions is explored for an alluvial urban channel in the Austin, TX area as a case study.
