Design, Implementation, and Analysis of Emergency Evacuation Experiment Based on Classroom Simulation

Abstract

For the purpose of research on crowd behavior in the emergency situation, the crowd evacuation experiment in the classroom was carried out. This paper describes the evacuation experiment process in the classroom under three different-width passages and time limited or no time limited combination. Those experiments find the condition of crowd standing positions, evacuation time distribution, different p-percentile values of evacuation time. From those results, the paper concludes the spatial distribution features of the crowd, the essential characteristics of the crowd behavior, and the relations between the standing position and the evacuation time, which will have reference value in the design of preventing disasters and reducing damages.
